I’m Patrick Ryan, and this will be my third season as an assistant coach with Cincy Elite and my second year working alongside Head Coach Adam Miracle. This season, I’m excited to continue working with our 17s team and helping our athletes develop both as volleyball players and as young men.
As an assistant coach, my role is also to support Head Coach Miracle and reinforce the direction and expectations he establishes for the team. I want our players to hear a consistent message from the coaching staff while also knowing that I’m available when they need additional instruction, encouragement, or someone to help them work through an aspect of their game.
One of the things I enjoy most about coaching is helping players understand that success in volleyball goes far beyond athletic ability. Technique, preparation, communication, decision-making, confidence, and mental toughness all play an important role.
My coaching style is focused on development and accountability. I believe players improve when coaches are willing to teach, communicate clearly, provide honest feedback, and challenge them to get better. Mistakes are part of volleyball, and I want our players to learn how to respond to them, make adjustments, and be ready for the next point.
Most importantly, I want our players to know that their value to the team isn't determined by one match, one tournament, or one mistake. We will compete to win, but development, effort, attitude, teamwork, and how we respond to adversity matter just as much. My goal is for every player to finish the season as a better volleyball player, a better teammate, and more confident than when he started.
I’m looking forward to another season at Cincy Elite and the opportunity to work with this group.
